Things to keep me going this week Vol. II
My birthday is Friday. In celebration of said birthday, and Eron’s birthday which is next week, we’ll be heading to Tulsa, home of Tim Frieze, world’s best dad.
We will waste some time (and dollar bills) at the brand new casino. We will drink cocktails (or Miller Lite, in Eron’s case). We will watch and see if Dad’s dog tries to eat Stella.
Then on the 4th, we will...
Oh, Kansas
Wichita is a big town, it’s true. But it’s still in Kansas and sometimes we need emergencies like this to remember that:
@KAKEnews: Watch out in west Wichita… some dead pigs apparently spilled from a trailer onto the ramp from eastbound Kellogg to northbound I-235.
P S. That’s gross.
Ah...Good News Wednesday, Indeed
Sometimes, one single compliment from an unlikely source can completely turn an okay day into a great day. I just received such a compliment and am now absolutely blissful.
It’s perfect that these nice words came at a point in my career when I am discouraged daily.
I have to say, I’ve never been so mad I stuck a remote up my ass. Then again, I’ve never played WoW and then had my parents cancel my account. That has to be pretty stressful.
Wait. No. You should never stick a remote in your ass.
Things to keep me going this week.
I’m taking Friday off to go visit my dear friends Ashley and Graham in Kansas City. And I am excited.
My birthday is next Friday.
I also get that Friday off.
I will be going to Tulsa next weekend for birthday casino action with Dad and 4th of July activities at Grandma’s.
And these are the things making this week so much better.

Goals for this week.
My goals for the week are as follows:
Don’t cry at work.
Don’t cry about work.
Finish Jitterbug Perfume and mail Roni a book. I’m a bad book exchange friend.
Do laundry so that the hamper is completely empty, at least for 5 minutes.
Make an appointment for a massage. That Christmas gift certificate is haunting me.
Make an eye appointment.
These are ranked in levels of...

My little piece of digital space that no one can ever have. Sorry to the Kelsey Rawson from Australia. Hang in there. You’ll think of a different vanity url.
This week is almost over. Thank God.
Every once in a while you have a moment that totally knocks you down a peg. I had that moment today. And I feel really shitty now.
But I learned something today. I do not take criticism well. At all. So there’s that.
My boss is serious about punctuations
Boss: I will give you $10 if you find out if it's standard to have the apostrophe before the last 2 digits of a year. As in '09.
Me: I think you can go either way.
Boss: But I want to know because I have a bet riding on it.
Me: I have to say, I don't care either way.
Boss: But Michael says it's one way, and I think he's wrong.
Me: I guess I just don't give a damn about those little punctuation preferences.
Boss: Are you drunk? You sound drunk.

I am also 73% Owen Wilson. So there’s that.
My boss is a little nuts...just a little
Mary: How do you feel about periods in between the A and the M in a.m.?
Me: Never put much thought into it.
Mary: I think I may want to just say "am" with no periods.
Me: That will work.
Mary: Are you sure? I mean, what's the standard? Barbie, how do you feel about this topic?
Barbie: I think you can go either way.
Mary: I just don't know.
Me: I don't have a preference either way, so if you feel strongly about it, then let's change it.
Mary: I just really hate periods.
Me: (pause) Who doesn't?
And this is the point where Barbie walks away shaking her head in embarrassment.

seems apt as I share a birthday with one of those beatles guys. and also, yeah, this road has been sort of long and winding.

Over-generalize much?
Directed at everyone that has brought up Christianity in light of the George Tiller tragedy -
I am a Christian. I am a Republican. I love and cherish people who are gay (well, not all of them because ya know, some people are just douches, regardless of sexuality). And I am pro-choice. I find what happened to Dr. Tiller horrible and I was completely sickened Sunday.
So, before you over-generalize...
It's All About The Issues
erawson:
The events of Sunday May 31st, 2009 are not an issue of being a Kansan, a Wichitan, a pro-lifer, a pro-choicer, a Christian. This “Scott Roeder” has only made a statement about his beliefs. Obviously in his mind, this is how to deal with other’s opinions. This is the act of this murderer’s and no one else’s. When a very emotional event such as this happens, people often say and do things...
